GP,If I could make a small correction and give the credit to the correct Governor. It was Gov. Thomas Prence of Plymouth, 1634 who arranged for Capt. Standish to visit with Gov. Dudley in Boston and so obtained John Alden's release. Gov. Prence's wife Patience Brewster died the same year. Ref. Of Plymouth Plantation, William Bradford 1645 p 262- 268. 'Governors Dudley and Prence Settle the Dispute'.
