I was browsing around during lunch at work and tripped across your 'Harry Alder' posting. Here's something that might help.Olean Rankin, my grandmother, had an older brother, Joe, who was probably born in the same area but I believe died in Ortenville, CA.I met him back in 1955, when I was 17, and was surprised to discover he was an educated and articulate man, in sharp contrast with his sister, Olean. But you probably heard plenty of "Granny" stories from your mother and aunts over the years.I also had an opportunity to visit "Cousin Eugene" on his farm close to Memphis when I was 8 or 9 one summer. What made that memorable was watching him slop the hogs and actually picking cotton on a farm down the road.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know, provided you sent me your email address, okay?
Cordially, Your uncle in Michigan
P.S. Just remembered, when cousin Shiela (Francis' daughter) came to the family reunion in Charlevoix one summer, she told me Harry Alder was still alive and living in Missouri, maybe right there in East Prairie. So that may be where you'd find a death certificate, okay?
