I would love to see the biography of William W. Alder!!Is this in book form, and if so, where??
My information on the 4 children of Anderson Alder and his 1st wife, Rachel (Kemp) Alder, is as follows: 1)George Latimer; b. 24 Jun 1840 Belmont Co., OH; m. 15 Oct 1863 Brown Co., IN to Margery Lovina Mead; d.1912 IN. 2)Susanna; b. 24 Jun 1842 Belmont Co., OH; m. Timothy Obenchain; d. 4 Dec 1930. 3)William Washington; b. 8 Aug 1844 Belmont Co., OH; m. 8 Oct 1873 DeWitt Co., IL to Serena E. Blain; 1 Jan 1914 Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN. 4)Lewis Kemp; b. 22 Feb 1847 Belmont Co., OH; d. Maxwell, IA.
The 3 Alder brothers served as soldiers during the Civil War from Indiana.George Latimer Alder was the 1st seargent of a large company.
I have information on all 10 children of Anderson Alder and his 2nd wife, Martha Ann (Hubbard) Alder.I am descended from their son Leonidas Silcott Alder.I have the genealogy of Anderson Alder back to his 2nd great-grandfather George Alder (m. 16 Dec 1729 to Elizabeth Keech; d. 28 Aug 1737 Piscataway, Prince George, MD.).
My information is that Latimer Alder was born 16 May 1783 in Loudoun Co., VA.I have reason to believe that the "E." in his name is erroneous. When I visited his grave at the Iola, KS cemetery, the name upon his gravestone read simply: Latimer Alder.Next to his gravestone is a metal plaque (placed there many years after his 1874 death by National Society U.S. Daughters of 1812), with the name Latimer E. Alder.I have copies of the 1948 application papers of one society member stating that the "E." is probably erroneous. My information is that he was born James Latimore Alder, but that he usually went by Latimer. He is found in records with his name spelled variously as Latimer, Lattemore, Lattimer, Latimore, etc. He had an uncle by the identical name (who, like Latimer's father, George Alder, was a soldier during the Revolutionary War).Latimer's grandmother was Elizabeth (Latimer) Alder.
I would be delighted to correspond with others who may have information on these lines!
