Your question is intriguing because my Alderman settled in Virginia after moving from North Carolina sometime after 1801. However, they settled in the area around Grayson County which is a good distance from Shenandoah and after the time when your relative was born. My relative, Jacob was from Germany and supposedly came down from Pennsylvania. There might have been a brother who came with him and settled in northern VA. There is no records that I know of that say that but somewhere I remember there were two Aldermans on the "Patsy Rutledge" the name of ship they on when it landed at Philadelphia. I think you can find the listof the names of the people on the ship. I don't know the year. It does seem like the other person's name was Henry. It would be interesting to find out and that might be the answer to your question. I know Jacob's first? son was born here in Winston Salem at the Moravian settlement of Bethabra and is buried in the "Stranger's Cemetary". He only lived for five days and died around 1798.
