Given the previous thread, it appears I have good timing with my question. :) I was just looking in my database and I see that I give AF as the source for William Alderman of Hartford Co CT being born in 1640. Tsk tsk. Well, maybe Aldermans in America has some justification for this date and I forgot to update my db way back when, but since my copy of AiA is languishing at the bottom of a box somewhere, I won't be looking it up.
Does anyone have an explanation for why William is believed to have been born c1640? (Or at any other time? I've seen where some people say c1654.)That 1640 date puts a crimp in the theory that his father could be John of Salem. (Although John being described as "apparently alone in the world" in 1657 puts a bigger crimp in it. :)
