The Aldred branch of my family tree has some striking similarities to the details you posted, as well as some notable differences.See what you make of it! My great grandfather was JAMES ALDRED born 1846/47 in Atherton, Lancs. He married MARGARET RITSON, born 1850/51 in Kendal, Cumbria & Westmoreland. They had 4 children;- JIM (JAMES?) d.o.b unknown; MARGARET born 2/2/1883 in Burnley; ANNETTA born 1885/86 in Leigh, Lancs; BETSY born 1887/88 in Leigh, Lancs. Annetta married Sam Fell, licensee of The Concert Inn in Atherton nr Leigh; Betsy married Frank Wilcock and had 2 children - Harry b.1921/22 and Emmie born 1924. Margaret married Fred Garstang born 4/8/1898. They had 1 daughter - Annetta, born 1/6/27 died 4/8/76, who was my mother. Margaret died circa 1939; Fred remarried in 1944 to Charlotte Aston. They lived at 2A Ivy Road, Bolton. At the time of the 1901 census, James snr, Margaret snr, Margaret, Annetta and Betsy were living at 157 Chapel St., Leigh. At this time, James was a tripe dresser at that address, Margaret jnr was a dress maker and Betsy a pupil teacher. If you have any information you can pass on in return, I should be most grateful, especially about a Thomas Aldred, who by 1918, had taken over the business in Chapel St.
