Charles F. Aldrich New London Dec. 13, 1924 - June 7, 2004
HANNIBAL - Charles F. Aldrich, 79, of New London, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. John Hayes will officiate. Burial, with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55, will be at Centenary Cemetery in rural New London.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Aldrich was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Ralls County to Melvin S. and Katherine P. Starr Aldrich.
Survivors include a close friend, Missy Walker of New London; one sister, Mattie J. Lewallen of Hannibal; one uncle, Buster Starr of Charles City, Iowa; longtime employer and friend, Martha Northcutt; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rose Marie Couch and Margie Ocheltree; and one great-niece.
Mr. Aldrich was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the 27th Infantry, receiving two bronze stars while serving in the South Pacific and Philippines. Mr. Aldrich worked on the Northcutt farm for over 54 years. He led a full and healthy life prior to his recent illness. His last medical attention was in 1944, when he was hospitalized in the Philippines for malaria. He was a Christian by faith. He enjoyed farming and lived his entire life in the Centenary Cemetery area where he was born and raised.
Memorial contributions may be made to Centenary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Lewallen, John D. Northcutt, Mark Northcutt, John Shrum, Rick Latas and Bob Dimitrijevich.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Clark, Bill Northcutt, Andy Babyak, Rocky Akright and James S. Aldrich III.
