I visited a local bookstore today. A basket of old books was being given away. One was a 1907 copy of My Friends, Their Birthdays , and Autographs. Inside leaf says" To Hannah Dixon from Maggie Dixon". Most of the names are Dixons:Cora Dixon b.4/27/1870, Robert J. Dixon b.6/20/1866, George T. (F?) Dixon b. 8/29/1875, and Elizabeth Dixon Shook b. 10/15 (no year listed),Hanah E. Dixon b.11/24/1836 in Chicago, Illinois, Ella A Dixon b. 11/16/1865, Mrs. Emma Dixon Ferguson b.11/25 (no year listed), Mrs. Arthur H. Crane b. 12/25/1873, Clara Belle Flemming b.7/31/1867, Mrs. F.C. Moon b.6/29 (no yr listed), Mrs. B.E. Horsley b.6/5/1847, Mrs. Deanah D. Aldrich b.5/26/1847, Andrew C. Dixon b.5/15/1834, J.H. Flemming b.3/9/1867 Mineral (Printing?). Some listings are death dates; Andrew P. Dixon died at Holdenville, Oklahoma "Fryday" March 8, 1907. Hannah E. Dixon died at 228 W. 11th Street June 28th, 1918 at 5:30 evening. Ella A. Dixon died at Rockwell City, Iowa April 18th, 1894. James H. Dixon died at Arnes (cannot read next word, might be Ind.) 5:15. Butnett Ave. Aug. 10, 1918.Saturday morning 4 o'clock. Betty Gene Bodkin Oct 12, 1918. There is a newspaper obit for a Dr. Hugh Ferguson of Tulsa, Ok(230 W. Eleventh Street, a practicing chiroprator who had lived in Tulsa for 20 yrs, died Sunday night following illnes of three weeks. Cause of death was pneumonia.) who was from Scotland, went to Canada as child, settled in Chicago in 1910.Had celebrated his golden wedding anniversay at his home April 19. He was 84, but year of clipping is not included..is very yellowed. Sons listed as Hugh from Cleveland, Andrew from Chicago. Daughters listed as Mrs. Anna Rowe of Chicago and Mrs. Dolly Botkins of San Antonio. Widow listed as survivor, but no name given.Funeral services are listed at Robert McBirney Funeral Home. (Note: Hannah Dixon lived next door to this Dr. Ferguson in Tulsa.) I am not related to these families as far as I know. I just refuse to throw old information away unless it is recorded first.
