Hi Susan,
My name is Jerry. Martha (Jones) Aldridge is the daughter of Bowling Jones and Elizabeth (Thomason) Jones. They were married Dec 11, 1823 in Fayette Co, Il. There were at least eight children born to Bowling and Elizabeth. They made thier home in Carson Twp, Il where Bowling was a farmer. Martha's brother, Benjamin F Jones is my Ggrandfather. Sarah (Jones) Harris one of Martha's sisters, married Joseph T Harris and they made their home near Lovington, Il in Moultrie Co.
Jackson Alderidge joined the Union Army Aug 6, 1861 for a period of three years but died March 10, 1862 at Paducah, KY of disease. He was a Lieut. Martha remarried to James Bragg but she to died a few years later in March 5, 1867. Two of Jackson's and Martha's children, Elizabeth Ann and Sarah C. went to live with their Aunt Chole and Uncle George W Nichols near Ramsey, IL after Jackson died and Martha remarried. Willis Aldridge married but I don't know where he went.
Lieut. Jackson H Aldridge, his wife Martha and son Bowling and daughter-inlaw are buried in Pea Cemetery in Moultrie Co, IL along with Joseph T Harris, his wife Sarah, daughters Elizabeth E and Martha J. Also near by is the grave of Martha's and Sarah's uncle Mark E Jones. Mark is the brother of Bowling Jones.
Dose this help any? I have been doing genealogy on my family ( the Jones's) for about 7 - 8 months so I am still new at this. If you have any information I would like to see it.
Thanks
Jerry
