I need clarification concerning the grandparents of George Alexander.George's father, James, is not included as a son of Archibald and Margaret Parks Alexander in a number of genealogies; he is included among their children in other genealogies, but his birth year is almost always given as 1722, highly unlikely if his mother was born in 1712.One genealogy places his birth in 1736. If James is actually her son, and if George, his first child, was born in 1754, I think it likely that he was born probably about 1736.
The James included among the children of Archibald and his second wife, Margaret McClure, was born in 1766, twelve years after the birth of the eldest child of our James; so this one cannot be the father of George.
Is the 1722/1736 James Alexander illegitimate?Or is he sometimes omitted by accident from the children of Archibald and Margaret Parks Alexander?Or is he a son of Archibald's brother Robert? Or of John?Or what?
I would appreciate receiving definite knowledge to clarify the parentage of George Alexander's father.
