I'm not sure, but I think this may be your Dorcas.I have these siblings as children of Ezra Alexander and wife Mary Culp.Mary left a will in Mecklenburg Co., NC, 1836, which names her children including Dorcas (no last names given for dtrs.):
NC Gen. Soc. Quarterly, Vol 24.2, pg 183, Loose Estate Records in Mecklenburg Co., NC, submitted by Herman Ferguson:"James M. Alexander, 1864.Petition - 6 Mar 1875, Attorney John E. Brem, whose hand writing was very poor, stated that James M. Alexander died intestate 12 May 1864 leaving a brother, William Alexander, of full age of the county; Absalom Alexander, a resident of Alabama; a sister Dorcas Coeling "(?)" of Arkansas; a sister Mary Boles, wife of Eli Boles, residing in York Co., SC; William and ____ Alexander, sons of "[a brother/]" Augustus Alexander, deceased, residents of ____ County; Dallas, Elija and Lizzie, children of "[a brother?]" Elam Alexander, deceased; Mary Fox, the dtr. of Agnes Fox, sister of the deceased and other children of said Agness unknown to the petitioner.Three of these heirs at law requested the T.J. Swan be appt. Admin. of the estate of the deceased. On 6 Mar 1875, T.J. Swan took the oath that he would be Admin."
Even though it doesn't say where James died, I would assume he D Mecklenburg Co., NC, but possibly not; maybe that's just where his heirs filed for settlement.I just ran across this, hope it helps.
