I have been thinking the same thing with a connection to the John Alexander mentioned on the road surveys. And I have also seen the articles that mentioned James Alexander as serving in the revolution. I think Joseph Alexander was mentioned on a census in either Centre or Mifflin County by 1790 but my memory is not perfect. If the John listed on the 1790 Northumberland census had 3 older males the 1 would be John Sr and the other 5 could be 5 additional brothers. And 2 sisters and their Mother.Depending if 1 of the females was old enought to be the Mother. My Joseph and your John could have been brothers but on the Indiana biography it states that Joseph born 1756 came to America with a father and brother at age 9 in 1765. The brothers name not mentioned. JUST SPECULATION ON MY PART BUT your John and the elder James mentioned would both be old enough to be the brother that came to America with Joseph in 1765. Or 1 of them would be unrelated or their was a mistake on the local biography's. I have often wondered if there where other Alexanders that made the trip from Ireland at different times. I think a DNA test would resolve a lot of the mystery. Chris.
