A follow-up to my own query of 2000. I have learned a bit more about the family, but still have questions.
Robert J. Alexander, blacksmith, widower with several children, married Sarah Turner in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, in 1847. They were still there in 1850, but they appear in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses for De Witt County, Texas.
It looks from the censuses as if the couple had three sons, all born in Mississippi.
Robert born ca. 1849 G. A. born ca. 1850 William J. born ca. 1852.
I am descended from Sarah Turner Alexander’s brother James and would like to know what became of this collateral line. Does anyone know of marriages of these sons, perhaps under variations of the names recorded in the censuses?
The 1880 census shows some grandchildren living with Robert and Sarah. I have no way yet of knowing whether they were Sarah’s descendants or from Robert’s first marriage.
Jack Alexanderborn ca. 1872 Alace Greenborn ca. 1874I don’t know whether this girl was an Alexander or a Green. The census is unclear.
