Brenda, I have found the following information that may be of help:a James E. Alexander is shown on the 1880 US Census as living on his father John W. Alexander's farm in Williamson County, TN.John W., the father, is a farmer, a widower, and was born in NC about 1829.Other children include: Edwin R., b. ~1856 (in TN, as are all of the children); Jessee (M), b. ~1857; James E., Nannie A., b ~1863; John W. Jr., b. ~1866; Thomas R., b. ~1869; Fannie B., b. ~1873.There appears to be several John W. Alexander's from NC; you might consider looking up data from that state as well as TN at an LDS Library. Also, check at findagrave.com from time to time.I couldn't find anyone from your family yet there, but you could get lucky with a future update.Good luck.
