Does anyone have any information regarding an Isabella Alexander who married Adam Brown (actually Braun) in Philadelphia in 1901?
Isabella is probably the daughter of James C. Alexander and his wife, Josephine, who were 59 and 58 in 1900.James was a carpenter in 1900.They lived at 134 Greenwich Street with their son, John D, 29, a clerk, and daughter Isabella, 19.Isabella's birth date is given as February, 1881.
Adam Brown (Braun) was the son of Dorthea (Dorothy) E Brown (Braun), 50, in 1900, born in Germany, and the late George Peter Braun (died in Philadelphia in 1893).Adam was born in December, 1874, in Germany. In 1900 he is a grocer and may actually be listed twice in the census. There is another Adam Brown (Braun) living with Annie McMaster as a border. He, too is born December, 1874 in Germany and is a "groceryman".
By 1910 Adam and Isabel(la) are married and have a daughter, Olive. They show married 13 years and Olive as 12, but their wedding license is from 1901 and Olive can't be found in the 1900 census, nor can Adam and Isabel(la) as a couple, so the 1910 info is a bit off.
Olive later married a William Lever and had a daughter Maxine, born about 1916.William died between 1920 and 1930 as Olive is listed as a widow in 1930 and lives with her parents and daughter in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. In 1930 she is listed as 30 years old, so probably born in 1900.
There is one other candidate for Isabella in 1900 - Isabella Alexander, daughter of Annie Alexander of 1447 South 21st Street in Philadelphia. This Isabella, however, shows born December, 1874, same as Adam.In later censuses Isabella is always younger than Adam - 40 vs 45 in 1920.
