You probably have this information, but I see Joseph Carson Alexander's parents were John Piper Alexander (b. May 20, 1793 NC; d. 1879 Jasper, TN), who married Elizabeth Caldwell Tate on Feb 28, 1828 in Gilmer, GA.Elizabeth: b. Mar 3, 1803 in Franklin County, GA; d. Sep 22, 1845 in Gilmer, GA.John Piper's father was Joseph Lowery Alexander and his grandfather was John McKnitt Alexander, who was born in Cecil County, MD and originally thought to be connected to the family of John and Margaret (Glasson) Alexander, but, alas, we have found no connection as of yet.James, the father of John McKnitt Alexander, looked to be the cousin of John -- they being about the same age (James was born in 1695, John in 1693)-- and Rev Dr J.E. Alexander noted in his history of the family that the Alexander's of Lanark, Scotland, and County Armagh, Ireland, had family in the Cecil County, MD area.But no connection has surfaced yet via dna-Y testing.
Returning to your family, I have J.R. "Jack" Alexander married to Dora Jane Mortemeyer, born c1865 in Missouri.Their children listed in the 1910 US Census are: Andrew J., b. ~1886 MO; William J., b. ~1887 MO; Ransom H. Alexander, b. ~1888 MO; Mary E., b. ~1890 MO; Samuel E., b. ~1894 OK;
John L., b. ~1901 MO; Willis A., b. ~1905 MO. J.R. Alexander's family was shown living in Cass Township, Greene County, MO.Dora's father was listed as born in Germany; the father & sons were listed as farmers.In 1880 J.R. (Jack) is shown in Cass Township, working on the family farm of Harris Skeen.I have no idea if this is family, but the Skeen's are originally from NC and Jack is shown as "something other than a direct relationship."
I could find no 1900 US Census, which would have told me the exact month and year of births.I do have Ransom in 1930 in Tarrant County, TX, married to a Cassie; he is an oil field worker and they have the following children:Harris L., b. ~1917 MO; Paul W., b. ~1919 MO; Charles K., b. ~1921 TX; Jack R., b. ~1923 MI (Michigan!); Jessie R., a daughter b. ~1925 TN; George W., b. ~1928 TX.TX death records show Ransom dying in Tarrant County on Sep 7, 1978.
I found an Andrew Jackson Alexander, older brother of Ransom, on a WWI Draft Registration Card; he was born June 10, 1884, listing his mother Dora as next of kin and self employed as a farmer.I may have an update on him as well:I show a soc sec death record of an Andrew Alexander, born June 10, 1885 as dying in MS in Fen 1975, while he was previously registered in LA, prior to 1951.I'm not sure this is his son, but I show an Andrew Jackson Alexander born June 13, 1911 and dying June 7, 1961; bd.: Dry Creek Cemetery, Rankin County, MS.Finally, I have Willis A. married to Delphia, who was born in MO about 1908.Willis is a farmer of Cass Township.I have Willis as born on Aug 8, 1904 and dying May, 1987 Springfield, Greene County, MO.His nickname was "Chuck" and is buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
Hope this helps.
