Here is what I mean, and I do think you have part of that answer you gave me.Part of my grandmother's ancestry says this of Thomas Alexander: "Thomas "The Royalist" Alexander, born 1630 in Scotland, went to Ireland in 1652 for distaste of Rump Parliament of Cromwell. He was intensely Presbyterian but loyal to the Catholic Stuarts (no doubt why as they were distant cousins), being kith and kin; married Marion Peadie, and had..."
Robert Alexander, Sr, who was born in 1710 and married Esther Beard is a great grandfather of mine. They had 10 children, of which Hugh Alexander, Sr was one of the 10. Hugh Sr married Margaret Elder and they had Hugh Jr. Alexander who married Ann Dean, and they had William James Alexander.William James Alexander married Amanda Jane "Jennie" Wallace (a distant cousin through the MacDonnell lineage - her father is John Wallace and he married Jane Miller, whose parents were Jane Evans and Alexander Miller.Alexander Miller's parents were John Miller, Esq. and Lady Mary McDonnell, sister of Randall MacDonnell, 4th Earl of Antrim, whose parents were Alexander MacDonnell, 3rd Earl of Antrim and Helena Burke).
I'm trying to find the ancestry of Thomas Alexander, whose father should be Archibald Alexander, but I could be wrong. As far as I know the Menstrie line of Alexander/MacDonalds aren't part of my line and that's what I'm trying to find out.Archibald Alexander can't both be the husband of Elizabeth McKay and the father to Thomas "The Royalist" Alexander.I have always questioned the veracity of what I have.I don't exactly have the means to have a DNA research done. But thanks for what you gave me, David.
