Hoping this thread is not dead! Has anyone yet found Anguish Alexander's parents?
If I have my information correct, Anguish Alexander b. 1690 in Lancaster, VA was my 6x gr grandfather. this is my line-up: Anguish Alexander b.1690 m. Mary > son Jesse b. 1720 Lancaster, VA m. Mary > son Randolph b. 1748 NC m. Lydia Jackson > 4 sons that I know of: Johnathan, Jesse b. abt 1777, Angus, Simpson b. 1795.(This is Simpson R, not Simpson B.)
Simpson R. Alexander b. 1795 m. Delilah M. Jackson and is the lineage I am from.
Jesse b, 1777 was married 3 times. His 3rd wife was Dorcas Schulor.(that is the one wife he named in his will as "last wife")
I have not yet found any primary source that Jesse b.1777 was the son of Randolph and Lydia.
the proof I have on Simpson R. Alexander being the son of Randolph and Lydia are the "Family Data Collection" from ancestry.com which are considered to be secondary sources, and yet that collection does list Simpson's birth as 1792. though I think it is widely accepted that birth years can be off sometimes.
I have copies of snail mail letters (my 1st cousin 1x removed has the originals) that were written in the 1970s between cousins that were trying to figure out who their gr grandparents were. (sad to say, I do not think they ever figured it out).In these handwritten letters are clues to family relationships.and when all the puzzle pieces are put together, it proves that Jesse and Simpson were brothers. And since we know Simpson's parents were Randolph and Lydia, this is a good secondary source for knowing they were Jesse's parents as well.
The cousins that wrote these letters to one another were from Jesse/Dorcas lineage. these letters were written to Dorothy Bolding Cox (maiden name Bolding, married name Cox)and Jesse Alexander b. 1777 was her gr grandfather.
so, my two main questions here are: 1. Has anyone found the parents for Anguish Alexander? 2. Does anyone have any other source for Jesse Alexander b. abt 1777 being the son of Randolph Alexander and Lydia Jackson?
