Roger, I know that my James W. Alexander is not the son of Archibald D. Alexander, MD. I have not ruled out with absolute certainty that they are brothers or cousins. As a matter of fact, I believe they may have been cousins. I just have a strong feeling that my line is associated with the Alexanders of Rockbridge. Not that it is Proof by any means but in photographs of my great-grandmother, Lavelett (Lavelette, Lovelett)Alexander, she looks like the pictures I have seen of Archibald Alexander, DD, LLD. The resemblance is uncanny. Sylvester T. Pugh is my great-granduncle.He died when I was very young but I do remember him.Sylvester was the brother of my grandfather, William Douglas Pugh. As a child I use to go to his dairy farm with my father to visit with his sons. In the 1970s one of Sylvester's son-in-laws, Thomas E. Marshall, made an extensive study of the Pugh family tree.He generously gave me a copy of his work in 1998 and then gave me an update on his last work on the family in 2008. Several cousins and I have been working on the family tree but we have all been stumped by our James W. Alexander. Are you connected to the Pugh family?
