Abraham Alexander Jr had land next to the McClatchey family on the Fourth Creek in Ireland county. Abraham Jr was the son of Abraham Sr, the signer and chair of the Mecklenburg Declaration. Jr's daughter Eliza married Hamilton McClatchy Jr -- they are my great great grandparents.
I also have David Alexander, possible son of Allen U. Alexander, married to Mary McClatchey. Mary was the sister of Hamilton McClatchy Jr. One of David and Mary's children was born on the 'Elkton Shore' probably a mispelled of Elk Shoal, she was born circa 1802.
I have posted extensive info about both these McClatchey/Alexander marriages and their descendants on my web site at: www.netgsi.com/~beau and I would love to hear from any others that know about these families. Both branches of the family have stories of Native American blood, and various connections (especially Cherokee) reinforce that; Hamilton and Eliza were listed as mixed blood people on the 1860 census; so I would be especially interested in hearing anything more about that as well.
I have written a manuscript over 120 pages long detailing what I know about this family (McClatchey descendants, two thirds of whom are also Alexander descendants), it can be ordered for the cost of copying and postage. Email me if you are interested. Or visit my web site.
