I have a copy of part of a map from the McCubbins Collection located in the Rowan County Library. It appears to show names and locations of land grants but not the boundaries.

On it in succession Northwest to Southeast within a total distance of about three miles are:
Allen Alexander 1760
Elk Shoals Cr.
Gabriel Alexander
Marvin M.E. church
Houston's Ferry Rd.
David Black
Joseph Houst
Catawba River

A number of other places had dates on them, none later than 1794.
