My 4G-grandfather was William "Black Billy" Alexander b. 1749 in Bucks Co., Pa, and who migrated with his parents and siblings to Mecklenburg Co., NC, about 1755.His wife was Margaret______.Believed to be a Clark.
I was not sure about the date of your Wm.It came out 7146.Could it be 1746?Not too far from my Wm.
If it was 1646, it could well be the son of Rev. James Andrew Alexander and Mary Maxwell from Bughail, Scotland via Ulster, Ire, the parents of those 7 brothers and 2 sisters you mentioned. The Wm. of 1646 m. Araminta Ann Liston for one.
If yours is my grandfather, you will have some 3000 names that I will give to you. But,we need to clear up the date and try to get some more information from somewhere.
My Alexander line came from Samuel, son of Rev. James and brother to William.Of course I have relatives who married into other sons lines...at least 4.
William of 1646 is important to me in that he had a descendant Col. Adam Alexander of Meck NC who m. a kinswoman Mary Shelby.Their granddaughter m. my uncle Moses Winslow Alexander, gson of Wm. Black Billy Alexander. She was Margaret Means Alexander.
Let me hear from you, please. We might be able to figure something out here.Mac.
