In 1850 census, p 408, #79/79, is Stephen Alexander, age 55, Martha Alexander, age 55, Mary Alexander, age 27, Dorcus Alexander, age 22, and Margaret Alexander age 18. I believe this is my ancestor, Stephen Alexander, Jr., s/o of CApt. Stephen and Martha Wilson Alexander. Stephen Alexander md. Patsy Montgomery in 1819 in Mecklenburg Co. Their children: McCamey Clark Alexander, b 1820-21, Mary Alexander b 1823, Prudence Alexander b. 1825, Martha Alexander b 1827, Dorcas Alexander b 1828, Margaret Alexander b. 1832.
This census record raises some questions, however. Is the Martha Alexander, age 55, Stephen's wife Martha "Patsy" Montgomery Alexander or Martha McAuley Alexander? There is a marriage record in Cabarrus Co. for Stephen Alexander and Martha McAuley in 1833, indicating that first wife Patsy Montgomery deceased, but one record states that this Stephen was grandson of Capt. Stephen and not the son.
Does anyone know where Stephen Alexander Jr. and Martha Montgomery Alexander are buried or their death dates?
Their oldest daughter, Mary Alexander, died 1851. McCamey Clark Alexander, oldest son, (my ancestor) was in Fayette Co. TN in 1850 census, settled in MS. Prudence Alexander md. John Middleton Rea, settled in MS. Martha Alexander md. Cyrus E. Alexander, settled in MS. Dorcas Alexander also went to MS, md. Leroy Gordon, died 1859-1860. Does anyone know what happened to youngest daughter, Margaret -- whom she married or when she died?
