Brian, I do not have the foggiest whether Rev James Alexander or William, his uncle, is the father of the 9 children who were on the ship Welcome 1n 1669.One says that Rev. James was b. 1734 and another makes the situation even worse in that he was b. 1742, i.e., 4 when Wm his oldest son is born.I think that one problem is that we do not know when Rev James was born in terms of proof. And, if his Uncle Wm. is the father because of some statement along the way that said the children said that they were kin to Rev. James.I do not know the basis of any of this.I suppose that if Rev. James cannot be their father, some wish to hold onto the dream and figure the other prospect, since someone said the kids were kin to Rev. James, claim that Wm. is the most likely.I do not know but would like to find out.A Mr. Faircloth has challenged the internet, by what I saw on the web one day, for anyone to lay out the proof that either Rev. James is their father or that Wm. his uncle is.If you find out anything more, please let me know.Thank you.Mac.
