Hello Bob,
Thanks for answering my note. I have a couple of questions for you? Is the family of Archibald or his brothers,from Dublin?
Forrets Alexander,(now deceased) of Decauter Ill.,a decendant of Thomas Alexander, wrote a book about our branch of the Alexander family.In his book he states that he always heard from his older family members that James M.Alexander a son of Thomas Alexander, was born in Dublin Ireland. James was infact born in Tennessee in 1801. Forrest deduced that it was Thomas who was born in Dublin. I havent been able to find much on the Alexander family of Dublin on the web. My next question is: Do you know the name of Peter Alexander's first wife and the name of their children if any?
My reason for thinking that Peter may possibly have been the father of my 4th g-grandfather is; Jane Scott, the 2nd wife of Peter Alexander, lived her later years in Logan Co. Ky at the home of her son John. In the pension application of Thomas Alexander (R90) Thomas's son John H. Alexander states that his father once ran a public house in the town of Shippensburg Pa. (Cumberland CO.) but the liscense for this public house was in the name of John Alexander. Thomas's son does not know who this John Alexander is that Thomas is evidently employed by. I was thinking that this John could have possibly been a brother to Thomas. But it looks like that John would have know about an uncle John. I know this;
Thomas Alexander had 5 sons that I know of. William, (by first wife Mary Barr) James M, John H. Granville C.,and Thomas King Alexander my 3rd g-grandfather. Their mother is named Sally King, she was born in NC abt.1760-70, and died in Washington Co. Indiana abt. 1829. I don't know who the parents of Sally King were, She is probably a deceandant of the King family of Lancaster Co Pa. who later settled in Sullivan and Green Co. Tn. I am searching for the parents of both Thomas Alexander and his wife Sally KIng. I have some more history on my early Alexander family. if any one is interested please send my and email and I will gladly share any info I have about the Alexander family of Scotland and Ireland and USA. ThanksTom Alexander, Greenville Indiana
