Does anyone know about possible Native American ancestry for these very early Alexanders? I note that they settled on the Accomack River with the Accohannock Indians. William Alexander filed the first deed in Somerset Co, MD, in 1665 -- the year in which the Accohannock Indians accepted a treaty that allowed the whites to live with them. They also converted to Christianity and intermarried with the settlers.
The question is, which settlers? I am a descendant of Abraham Alexander Jr, son of Abraham Alexander Sr who chaired the Mecklenburg Convention. I would like to get photocopies of any authoritative material regarding Alexander Jr, his wives, parents, grandparents, etc. I know this family had Native blood enter at some point because (Dorcas) Eliza Alexander, daughter of Abraham Alexander Jr via his wife Margaret Harris, was so listed in the census.
I'd be happy to swap info and reimburse for photocopies if I could get more information about this family.
