I only know about one daughter (Viola Olivia). Her descendant (Danny Ewing) posted a message in Kaufman County Texas researching Horatio and I contacted him.Viola was his g g grandmother. She married William Marshall Ewing in San Augustine County, Texas in 1842. William Ewing's grandmother's (Mrs. Elizabeth Ewing) was a founding charter member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Augustine, TX in 1838. Interesting to note that other charter members were Mr. H. G. Alexander and wife Peggy, Mr. James Alexander, and Mr. Elam Alexander. This was one of 3 early churches in this area that my ancestors founded.John C. Love's daughter Minerva married Horatio's son James Leander Alexander on 1/20/1842. I am searching for more info on the Love family. John C. Love was a charter member of the very first Methodist church/protestant church in Texas in 1833 (McMahan chapel). This chapel has a web site.I have a copy of anarticle about this.My information was compiled by my great aunt (Ethyl Alexander Irby). Interesting you should mention the name Cartwright as my grandfather's name was Matthew Cartwright Alexander. I was told that he was named after his father's partner in the cattle business. Franklin Gates Alexander was his father and he was a cattle rancher and owned the first mercantile store in Haskell County, Texas. He founded that town and built the first church there, was mayor, etc. His store building stands on the town square today. I believe I have a Bible and will look tonight. I don't know how old the Bible is, but I don't remember any information being in the bible. My great aunt typed the information for all of the family. She lived to be 101.
