Thanks, Suzanne. My uncle of yore was born ca 1783 as parents were m. in 1779.Isaac Alexander, who m. Catherine (nee) from VA (WVA?), was mentioned in his father,"Black Billy" Alexander's, Will pro. in 1853.
In the Jan term of Court of Pleas and Q'trSessions in Mecklenburg Co., NC, James W. Osborne and William Davidson swore that Wm. Alexander had died Dec 19, 1836, and that he was known as "Black Bill".His only surviving child was Daniel Alexander [date of this was 1-26-1853].
Of course, since it took a long time to get from NC to KY and back, etc., they may have assumed that Isaac, in KY, was dead??
Isaac Alexander signed for his son, Benjamin Clark Alexander, to be married in Warren Co., KY, in 1845.Isaac was listed in 1840 census Butler Co., KY, but not in the census in Warren Co., KY, for 1850; but his wife, Catherine, was listed w/4 children in 1850. It was assumed that Isaac died between the time he signed for Benjamin and when Will was probated 1-26-1853, when Dan was said to be the only survivor. [Dan my g-grandfather].
Catherine was est'd b. ca 1790 and died after 1860 (census), prob. Warren Co., KY.

Did not want to flood you with data, but if it helps at all, perhaps it's worth it.
