About 3 a.m. this Morning (23 February 2001) I found Donnie Graves' posting on Anthony Alexander of NC, AL (b. abt 1773) -- with your response to that post.I am a Great Great Great Granddaughter of Anthony Alexander who was picked up (with members of his family in his household and with 3 other households) for the first time in Marshall County, Alabama in the U. S. Census of 1850.It was great finding these entries from Donnie and you on the Alexander Forum. Please read my message response given today to Donnie Graves as Message Number 5589 in the Alexander Forum.I have a lot to learn in valid interpretation of all this genealogical data that I am finding; however, I am really enjoying the challenge of trying to find official data to tie together all of the Anthony Alexanders being found in NC Internet web sites -- to show their ancestry and to show their relationship to our Alabama Alexanders!
If you would like to have a copy of the 7-page extract that I mentioned to Donnie, please send me a FAX number to which I can send the data.Or, either of you could send me your mailing address and I will mail each of you a copy. When you mentioned George King, I checked data that I extracted/copied on 20 November 1977 from a King Bible in the hands of Ms. Isom King at that time. That King Bible had many dates in the 1800s.Isom King has now died and, recently, I have been unable to find another family member who knows what King descendant is now in possession of that King Family Bible!I cannot make out some of the data but I would also be glad to send that data if you think that it might help you.The family from whom this was borrowed was, in 1977, living on Georgia Mountain in Marshall County, AL.Some members of that "Doc" King family are still living in the area!I asked at Gannon's Restaurant this morning if anyone knew anything about an Elizabeth Alexander who married a George King and no one did; however, one individual said that he knows that George King at one time was living around Morgan City, in Morgan County, and that he thinks his family has moved maybe to Birmingham, AL.The individual that I talked to has a Father who is about 90 years old and is still living almost to the Marshall County/Morgan County line at Morgan City.I don't know whether he would remember that George King and Elizabeth Alexander or not!
I have seen no mention of the name of the wife of our John Anthony Alexander!!I would very much like to have the reference that you have that mentions a wife Eleanor so that I could do more research in that area/data base!!Please send that reference to me when you can locate it and I will be forever grateful!!
If you do not have available to you a copy of the U. S. Census of 1850 for Marshall County, AL, I have a copy if you would like for me to send you an extract of all data for the 4 Alexander households shown therein for Marshall County -- for the first time. Those 4 households were: Anthony Alexander, Ephraim Alexander, William Alexander, and Franklin Alexander.
I have ONLY one of my Mother's family who is still alive. That is my Uncle A. B. (believed to be Initials Only) Alexander. My mother was Hallie Lee (Alexander) Cooley, Daughter of William Pinckney "Pink" Alexander, Granddaughter of William Butler Alexander, Great Granddaughter of Ephraim Alexander, and Great Great Granddaughter of John Anthony Alexander who came from NC to Marshall County, Alabama before the 1850 U. S. Census of that County.I will ask him (A. B.) what he knows about Ephraim's twin girls Rebecca and Elizabeth who were 3 years old in that 1850 Marshall County Census. That is the earliest Census data that I have on our g.g.g.gf John Anthony Alexander and our g.g.gf Ephraim Alexander that I know is our John Anthony and our Ephraim. There have been a number of Anthony Alexanders, John Alexanders, and Ephraim Alexander entries in all of the NC Internet data.I also don't know all siblings of either Ephraim or John Anthony Alexander and would very much like to find out all birth dates of all of their brothers and sisters so that it would help me to tie the related NC Alexanders to them and to each other!Does your statement "I would like to find out what happened to her and the names of her children" apply to your Rebecca who married into your Ramsey family or do you have all of that information and now want that data for her twin sister Elizabeth? Please tell me what you have and what you want and I will talk with my Uncle A. B. Alexander to see what he remembers about that data.Since he is my only living relative from that generation, I need to make a record of everything that I can from him anyway.I try to carry a video camera with me when I visit him to have him tell me personal stories related to individuals from those past generations!
If you are ever in the Marshall County, AL area (both you and Donnie Graves), please contact me at 345 Warrenton Shores Drive, Guntersville, AL35976-6132 (in the Warrenton Community, just down the road "in sight of" the Warrenton Spring (recently called by some people the Taylor Spring). Those individuals cannot tell me why they call it the Taylor Spring. My phone number is 256-582-2530.My FAX number is 256-571-9779.
It is very good to make another contact with individuals who are doing research for data on our John Anthony Alexander and our Ephraim Alexander!
