Pardon me for entering your discussion on the Alexander family in which you list an Andrew Alexander, b. ca. 1648.I have researched the Alexander family in New Jersey in the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey.I am not certain whether my information pertains to this Andrew Alexander or not, since you find that he comes from Ulster, N. Ireland, whereas my information gives him from Edinburgh, Scotland.
However, this Andrew Alexander came to New Jersey from Scotland in November 1684.He was then single.
"This Andrew managed land in New Jersey owned by George Alexander, lawyer of Edinburgh and Dr. John Alexander, also of Scotland.Their 462 acres were near the prsent Scotch Plains on both sides of Green Brook.Eight Scotch families had located in the vicinity by Feb. 1685/6."Vol. 14: p. 26, GMNJ (Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey)
Worth investigating?I am looking for the names of those eight Scotch families in New Jersey. Not all were named Alexander, but some of them may have been.I am looking forWilliam Alexander and Thomas Alexander of pre-Revolutionary period.
