Jane, I've been doing research, on our lost Alexanders, Our Benjamin, live in Lawrence county, Indiana, possibly in Bedford, before and during 1850. We believe a George Washington Alexanderto be a nephew. We thought that George's father to be a Zachariah. My ggrandfather was a Winfield Scott Alexander, born in Lawrence county, Indiana in 1849. We believe Benjamin to be Winfield's father. We think Benjamin was born in North Carolina around 1803. He married a Susan Wiseman in 1846 in Lawrence county, Indiana, at a late age for both. Susan may have had other children. Winfield was around Joplin, Mo., around 1880. He and his wife had children in Joplin. He is buried at Joplin. During furthur research on George Washington Alexander, I found one born in Bedford, Lawrence, Indiana on 23 Oct., 1851,He died 20 Aug., 1865 at Bedford, Lawrence, Indiana. According to the new research, this George's father's parents are David Smith Alexender and Mary Jane Mitchell, David was from North Carolina, same as Benjamin., Could they be brothers? David was born 27 Feb, 1813, and died 25 Sept,1880 at Avilla, Jasper Missouri. Avilla is about 10 miles from Joplin. Ironically, Winfield's first daughter was named Edna Avilla Alexander. I wonder if Edna was named after Avilla, Mo. We have had a death but I'm gonna research this new lead at the county seat of Jasper, Jasper Mo.
