Hi cousin for now - I'll have to figure that one out. On my side there is me, my dad Walter Massie, Grandma Withers Massie, great grandma Walter Withers, then Susan Dabney Alexander who md. Robert Withers, then Robert Alexander/Austin. Robert would be my 3rd great grandfather. I think that makes us 4th cousins, with a couple of generations removed on your side. Will do a better job later. I don't have any of the information on the Alexanders past a bit here and there on Robert. I understand his father Robert came from Ireland near Londonderry. I'd love to learn more and will share whatever I find out. Robert was buried in a family grave, and the cemetery is all grown up and caved in. The people who own the property now don't want anyone around it. But they don't know me. Give me a little time. For I think it is illegal to deny entrance.
I got bitten by the genealogy bug in 1968. However, I was in the middle of raising 5 children by myself at the time. My mother would tell me nothing, but Dad told a lot. And the Alexanders are his line.
My name is Ernestine Massie Tabor and I am 69. I am still working but plan to retire this November, if not before. Then I can spend all the time I want on this. I was born and raised in Virginia. At present, I live in Florida. Most of my family are gone, and I am about the oldest in my branch, except a few aunts and uncles.
Let me ask you about the name Bledsoe. I have an uncle (mom's side) who is named Bledsoe. Also, there were a lot of Bledsoe's in Virginia census records. I believe my great great grandmother on mom's side was Ann Bledsoe Childares. I found her marriage and she was listed as Ann B. Childares who md. George Wheeler, but my guess is that was her name.
I would like to hear more about your family also.
There was a book written on the Alexanders years ago, and i wrote the author, but they didn't have another book to sell. However, I happen to know they can be copied. So I will pursue that. There are so many people with the same name I feel sometimes I am on a merry go round. Ha Ha
Well, looking forward to hearing from you. Tina
