Kenneth Alexander: I am a descendant of Josiah Alexander and wife Eliza of Hardin County, TN. 1860 Hardin County census shows Josiah, age-45, Eliza-38, WM 18, Nancy 17, Eliza 15, Martha 14, Elizha 12, Ezekial 10, Sarah 8, Josiah R 6, Aliz 4, James F one month. James Fulton was my grandfather. His wife was Sarah Evelyn, daughter of Granville and Ruth Alexander. There were many Alexanders in the Cerro Gordo, Savannah, and Saltillo communities at this time. Several are buried at Harmony Cemetary close to Cerro Gordo, north of Savannah on the Tennessee River. Based on what you posted and on the information my mother relayed to me and the census records, it appears that we are cousins! Audie or Odie Alexander as I knew him, lived in Jackson, TN. His wife was Minnie and they had a daughter named Marie and a son, Odie (I believe). Josiah was born in NC about 1815. I do not know where and have not been able to find this so far. I do not know where your Joe was buried. He must have been Josiah R and would have been born about 1854. Does this track with your dates? My mother was Maurine Alexander, dau of James F and Sarah Evelyn.Maybe we can track their route someday from NC.Hope I have helped you some. Please feel free to e-mail me directly.
