You write, "The second born 1774 [Thomas, Jr.]. I was hoping that Thomas Sr. was the Thomas mentioned in Beard's will as a grandchild. I haven't felt at ease with the Beard connection with my line (though I would like to believe it correct), owing to will of Robert Alexander, around 1781, which reads to me as if the mentioned Thomas is a miner at that time."
My Thomas Alexander worked as [theoretically] some sort of forgeman at Pine Forge, Shenandoah County, about 1815 on.Of course, there may have been a "bloomery" there, requiring some sort of mining. He had a grandson named James, who was old enough to have at least one child while living in Shenandoah County (about 1853). His son, Washington, however, was apparently born in Alexandria, which may mess the pattern up a little bit.
Can I get that will off the web?Can you tell me more about Robert Alexander's origins, ancestors, etc.?
I can't remember if I referred you to my research website or not:www.glover-glovier.com,where there is info on my Alexanders.
