ELIZABETH ALEXANDER married ANDREW WEST 1-23-1822 in Hancock Co. Ga.The marriage was performed by MOSES WADDEL, the itinerate Preacher and paid for by JOHN WEST.Then in Jasper Co. Ga. in some loose papers is a record of a marriage of ELIZABETH ALEXANDER marrying ALEXANDER WEST on 8-26-1819, however in a newspaper notice it shows ROBERT WEST and ELIZABETH ALEXANDER.Due to the fact that preachers only had to turn their records to the County seat once a year, and some of them did'nt get around to doing it for several years, do you suppose this ELIZABETH ALEXANDER could be the daughter ofTHOMAS DIXON CLARK and NANCY JONES ALEXANDER? And some confused clerk failed to record her last name as Clark?ROBERT WEST of Jasper County is my GGGGgrandfather. His nickname was Rufus and his wife was Nancy E.(probably Elizabeth) The father of Robt.(Rufus) was John West. The older brother of Robt. West was also John West, who Robert lived with for awhile- and he lived in HANCOCK Co. ((I know this is confusing.)Now also BENAJAH SAXON and MILBURN (WILBURN)SAXON were witnesses on many of the land sales, etc. for the West's .Clark as a middle name was given to one of their sons, the oldest was named Thomas, another was named Alexanderand another son married the daughter of WILLIAM C WALLIS and his wife ELIZABETH SAXON.in 1820 BENAJAH SAXON lived next to WILLIAM C WALLIS and wife ELIZ. SAXON.all of these people were in Talbot County, Ga. by 1840. Oh yes, the Wallis's,/Wallaces were from Brunswick County, Va.Robert West was born about 1800 and Nancy Elizabeth about 1804. If this makes any sense to you and you think there might be a connection, please let me know.
