Sept 30, 2002 I just read your Alexander Family forum entry of 30 Sept. 2002, asking for information on William Alexander in Randolph Co.It seems you and I are looking for the same information.William King Alexander was my Great Great Grandfather, b1817, d 1880--(Tombstone Dates). William is buried in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Randolph County, NC.I am told by my uncle that William was reared as a "bound boy" by Billy King in Randolph County, North Carolina. The tombstone of his wife lists her as Susan b1818 d1885. I just visited the cemetary this week.I have digital pictures of their tombstones if you would like copies.
William's son Jessie is my Gr Grandfather.Jesse lived in Davidson Co., just outside Thomasville, as did each of his descendants listed below except me.I moved from Davidson Co. to VA in 1968 after graduation from Appalachian State U.
My Line:William A. b.1812; Jessie Rankin A. b1845; Will (Willy, William, W.H.) Henry A. b 1876; William Lawrence A. b.1903; Don William A. b. 1945.
I am just getting started in researching my family.I have picked up a few bits thus far which I would be glad to share, but I cannot get definite information on the ancestors of William King Alexander.I have a copy of a 1851 court deposition by Reuben Alexander in which Reuben states he(Reuben)lived in the home of William King, leading me to believe Reuben was likely the brother of William.Reuben states that he(Reuben)had moved to Indiana a short time prior to the deposition. The most helpful and detailed info. I have came from the Lytle Family Genealogy site.It includes the Johnson and Lytle lines going back several generations beyond Susan.I am assuming you have that information.
Please let me know what you have found on William. Thanks, Don
