Mary Peden Alexander was one of the ten children of John Peden and Margaret McDill. By 1772 all of the Pedens, along with Mary Peden Alexander, her husband James Alexander and their thirteen children were to be found in what is now Spartanburg Co., SC. In 1899 the first Peden Reunion for the descendants of John Peden and Margaret McDill was held at Fairview Presbyterian Church in Fountain Inn, SC (founded by the Pedens and Alexanders). In 1900 "The Pedens of America" was published; it contained family history and the descendants of John Peden and Margaret McDill of which the Alexanders were an important component. A new edition of the book was published in 1960 and reprinted several times since. At the recent 105th Reunion at Fairview Presbyterian Church it was decided to commence a new revision of the book covering the descendants of John Peden and Margaret McDill. We would like to receive as much input from the Alexander side of our family as possible. Mr. James H. Rodgers is the current president of the Peden Reunion and Family Association and asked me to coordinate this effort. I look forward to hearing from all interested descendants.
