From a Johnson Co., IN local history: James and Mary Alexander in New Munster, Ireland in 1683 with son Moses, James Jr. is another son.Thomas is a grandson (presumably James Jr.’s son). James Sr, Mary, Moses (and presumably James Jr.) migrate to Meckinburg, NC. James Jr.moves to Logan Co. KY in 1803 then to Roane Co. TN. Thomas moves to Johnson Co., IN in 1827.

Johnson Co. formed in 1822, Franklin incorporated 1838 pg. 506/7 lots purchased in Franklin between 1824-34 include those by John Alexander, David Alexander, Thomas Alexander and a John R. Kerr who is a clerk. pg. 504 Prominent among merchants post 1841 is David Alexander;In 1841 citizens of Franklin include Thomas Alexander - merchant, David Alexander - blacksmith, John Alexander - blacksmith, another John Alexander - stagedriver. pg. 720 Thomas Alexander, son of George and Peggy Farnsworth Alexander of Greene Co. TN.George Alexander also born in Greene Co., TN in 1800 died in Johnson Co., IN on 8/23/1873.Pegy born 1802 in TN died in 1846.About 1832 the famliy moved to Johnson Co. an settled in Franklin.Members of theCumberandPresbyterian Church. pg. 844 Shiloh, Cumberland Presbyterian in Needham Township north of Amity Village founded in 1835.Charter members are John R. Kerr and wife, David Alexander & wife, John Alexander & wife and another John Kerr and wife.
