You would not believe the number of John Alfords or even John W. Alfords we have. And many from MS.Before considering the folks who "might have been" his kin let me first make sure I know which John we are talking about.Your comment regarding West Carroll Parish in 1910 seems to fix that J. W. Alford as yours. He was b.ca 1848 in MS and had wife Bettie 32 with children Lottorick 14, Angus 13, Lulia 8, May 6, Hue D. 3 and Beatrice 1.
In 1920 the family is headed by Angus 1897 LA, Bettie, his mother, 1878 LA, siblings: Haywood 12, Beatrice 11, Ruby 9, and James 6.There was a William Alford there also boarding with John Mattox.Does he connect with your email address? This William was born MS about 1842.
Back to 1910 we see William with wife B. C. b. 1873 in MS (must have been second wfe) and a J. M. b. 1847 in MS with wife Mary 1850 MS.
I'd conclude that these guys are brothers.Let me hear from you that this J. W. Alford in 1910 is for sure yours and then we can take it - via regular e-mail - from there.
I'm with the ALFORD AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC. and we would appreciate your sharing any and all information you might have on Alfords and Alford descendants (no matter what surname) for our data base.
