Banging your head on brick walls can be harmful to your health.I think Lynn Shelley or I, or both, have been in touch with you before - perhaps it was your brother.
No one is more interested in learning more about Haywood Alford and his origins than is our ALFORD AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION, INC.We are holding our annual corporate meeting and national Alford family reunion in Georgia this year and Haywood is one of our prime targets.
Most of the descendants of Haywood don't agree with me but I have a gut feeling that Haywood was not born in GA but rather probably in NC.We are doing a lot of work on early GA Alfords for our meeting and we just don't find a person who could be Haywoods father. One of the first known Alfords there was James Alford and he arrived about 1785.We are still digging so don't go saying that Gil Alford said he was born in NC.I really don't know.
I see that in our genealogy of Haywood (which lists over 300 descendants) the data on your father's family is very incomplete. We just have that Morris Sheppard "Jack" Alford married Naomi Christine Ooten and had Donna June, William Jay, Gary Kenneth, Denise Christine and David Morris. We have no dates or places and if any of the kids are married nothing on their families.
We seem to be even worse off on your grandfather's family listing only that Morris Shepard Alford married Ardina and had Morris and Janice. Can you help us flesh these out?
It has been our experience that the more we can add to an ancestor's list of descendants the more likely we are to learn more about the progenitor.
