Re: Discussions on Marion Co. SC, Horry Co. SC, Robeson Co. NC Alfords . I am gr,gr,gr,gr granddaughter of Jacob Alford/Mary Pace through son Elias.Have found best references to sort out these connections: Kinfolks, Wm. Curry Harllee; History of Marion Co. SC, W.W. Sellers,;Anals of Ashpole History (Robeson Co.); and History of Ashpole Presbyterian Church by Z.T. Fulmore, Presbyterian Church Archives Montreat- Anderson College, Montreat, NC , Wheeler's History of NC, and Historical Southern Families, Boddie, Vol.12. Having workedfor several decades these references still remain most helpful I've found. Jacob's line traces their beginnings through New Kent Co.Va. most think several generations to William (Sion) Alford Massachusetts ,1634, his father Thomas, Lincolnshire, England who supposedly came to Massachusetts with son William. (Would be glad to share any research info I have acquired on these branches with other interested descendants.) Connection of Jacob's line and Horrybeginning with Arthur? Does not seem to be a direct line. Both probably originated from New Kent Co., but arrived through NC via different ancestors at different times. Marion Co. lines seem to have some closer connection to Jacob's line in neighboring Co. Robeson Co. NC than those lines in neighboringHorry Co.SC.
