Dear Ann, What a wonderful find... I am including info on this line as best I know it. I welcome any additions or corrections from other Alford descendants, too. Catherine McPhaul Alford b. abt 1833, married James McRae, was daughter of Sion Alford b.Abt 1797 d. Aft. 1865. His first wife was Catherine McPhaul. She b. a 15 March 1802 d. 02 March 1831. Second wife Elizabeth Little. Sion's father was Warren Alford b. 15 March 1770, Robeson Co. NC, mother Jennett Little b. 7 Jan 1773 in Robeson Co., NC. Warren was the son of Jacob Alford and Mary Pace. Jacob b. New Kent Co., Va. His father was Lodowick Alford. Lodowick's father thought to be John or William Alford of New Kent Co. Va.. Lodowick, some of his brothers and children did indeed migrate from New Kent Va. to Wake Co. NC. No Va. circa the late 1730's. I am descended from Jacob's son Elias. Also connected through the McRae line. Two of Jacob's sons and some of his grandchildren migrated West to Mississippi and Tennessee in the early 1800's. It has long been oral family history that some family Bibles went West with them as family records and treasured links to family they thought they might never see again. Welcome home... Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if I can be of further help. God go with you.
