Sorry I may not be much help; I am in Nebraska. I grew up in Nehawka, Ne; my family still lives there. My great grandmother was Lena Leota(Alford)Dodson, Stephen and Rebecca's daughter. My mother says Stephen and Rebecca had nine children. Robert C. Alford, 1881-1932 (son), James D. Alford, 1867-1890 (son), Albert J. Alford, 1871-1945 (son), Nan (Alford) McReynolds, John Alford, Mary(Alford) Loseke, All the above, except for John, are buried at the Mount Pleasant Cemetary, two miles north of Nehawka, NE. Mom says John was buried in Chicago, IL and was well known there.I have not found the other two children yet though there is a unnamed infant grave in the Alford plot.If you want to access the Omaha papers from 1913 you will find articles about Rebecca's death since she was killed in the great tornado of 1913 that hit the area at that time. Most of the other children did not have children that I am aware of but I know Mary Loseke did and I will get that information if you would like. Since your checking military pension files you might get some information from James' file since he was a vetern of the cavalry during the later Indian Wars. One last question. I found a land transfer from G. W. Alford to a John Collier of Oct. 1854 in Lawrence County, Ohio (vol 16, p.22) that I am writing to obtain. The Lawrence County Site also shows that a Sarah Alford married a John Collier. Do you know if there is any connection to Stephen? Again thank you for the information; if I can help, please let me know.
