FLORIEN, LA - Services for Travis Cleo Alford, 95, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2002 at Plainview Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Hoy Leach, Rev. Buddy Airhart and Rev. Melvin Smith. Interment will follow at Toro Cemetery.
Visitation was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002 at the church.
Mr. Alford, a resident of Florien, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1907 in Sabine Parish, LA, parents, Litus and Lizzie Alford. He married Ruby Thaxton on June 22, 1929. Mr. Alford was a retired carpenter and member of Plainview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruby Ernestine; mother, Lizzie Ellzey Dowden; sisters, Loma Moore and Elsie Chance; and great granddaughter, Rena Lacy Alford.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruby Thaxton Alford of Plainview, LA; sons, Gene Alford and wife Gay of Hornbeck, LA, Travis Alford and wife Betty of Hornbeck, LA, Billy Alford of Plainview, LA, Raymon Alford and wife Judy of Florien, LA, Robert Alford and wife Margie of Clayton, GA, Philip Alford and wife Melba of Florien, LA; daughters, Elizabeth Alford of Florien, LA, Nita Alford of Hornbeck, LA; 40 grandchildren; 81 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; host of friends.
