Hi John, I saw your postings on genforum and I am hoping you can help. I am researching Martha Asenath Alford and family. She was born Jackson Co Fla, Nov. 8, 1846. Her father was James WootenAlford. Martha Married Martin Van Buren Worley on Nov.17, 1864 in Augusta, Ga.Have hit a brick wall on this one and need help!Saw a posting on another site that pulled up a James W Alford, son of Kinchen B Alford and Asenath Wooten..felt there HAD to be a connection there, however it said James Wborn 1807 died 1811. Even the AAFA has a record (Egbert Alford biography) that saidKinchen's first born James W. died. In the will of Aseneth Wooten Alford, dated 1842 she names her son James W, so he must have been alive at that time. I found a family on 1850 Jackson Co Fl census that I believe to be the right one..it reads:
Alford, James W43MGa Francis M9MTn Matilda J28FTn Marthy4FFl
Found again on 1860 Henry Co, Al census..it reads:
James W Alford52MSchoolteacherGa Matilda "38FTn Martha A "13FFl James R7MFL John R2MAL F. M (illegible)21 MTn He is listed as boarder in household.... could this be the Francis M on 1850 census? Maybe brother to Matilda..both born Tn.
If you, or ANYONEcan help with this line, please let me know. Thank you, Vicki J Evans Vicgen1949@hotmail.com
