I'm remembering this mostly off the top of my head so I will give the bare basics:
Killes Alford was my 4-great-grandfather, the son of Old John of Rutherford that was in the first census of 1790. He was married to Elizabeth Jones but she died sometime before the 1810 census. Their son, John, b. 1806, was my 3- great-grandfather and he was "probably" adopted by the Jones Family, the parents of Elizabeth. Killes deserted the family and moved to Kentucky and remarried and started another family. He was later killed in a fistfight with a gentleman by the name of John Taylor.
My 3-great-grandfather, John, married Dirisa Lunsford in 1826 in Rutherford County and they moved to Knox County, KY in about 1828. They had a son named Daniel, who had a son named James (Jim Doe), who had a son named Homer, who had a son named Bill, who was my father and who died in 1982.
