Because you seem so knowlegeable about the Alfords, I hope you may know something about the SC Alfords and Adams lines connecting.I hope you can spare a moment to think about this.
It is my unproven theory that the Adams and Alfords have been marrying each other for many generations - SC to GA to AL to FL and points west.
I have an ancestor named Alford Adams, b. 6 Jan 1813 inSC. I don't yet know where.
By the time he married, he was in Monroe Co. GA where he married Sarah Watson 7 Jan 1836.There were Alfords living nearby, and marrying in roughly the same timeframe.
They then moved to Sumpter Co. GA - again, Alfords in the area.
By 1850 they were in Coffee Co. AL - again, Alfords in the area.
They died and are buried in adjacent Covington Co. AL near Andalusia, AL.Many of their descendants live in FL.Others went to TX. No doubt the Alfords did this, too.
I haven't been successful at all in steping back from my Alford Adams -- but I wondered if someone who has obviously done extensive research on the Alford line might have seen something that could help me in my vain persuit for Alford Adams' parents and kin.Or perhaps you may know someone that perhaps might know more. I am speculating that his mother or grandmother were Alford ladies.
Have you any Alford ancestors who were in SC in the late 1700s-early 1800s?And if so, where?
I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.
