Here is what I have on him, please add anything or correct any errors.I am also sneding an attachment with my entire work.:
(58) Miles Adams Alford was the oldest son of Henry Miles Alford. He was born in February 15, 1841 in Coffee County (current Geneva County - at Traveller's Rest Church in current town of Samson) after the family moved from Georgia. In 1862 Miles married Alice “Allie” Thorn (1845-aft 1930), shortly before he enlisted in the CSA a few days later, in September 1862 at Notsaluga, Alabama. He marched off to war with his wife pregnant with their first child, Mary Jane.He was captured at Spottsylvania Courthouse on May 5, 1864 during the Battle of the Wilderness, and was paroled at Elmira, N.Y. on February 9, 1865.He was listed as being 5’8” tall with black hair and a fair complexion. When he returned from the war he settled back down and farmed in the Ino, Alabama area, northeast of Samson, possibly on his father’s land, who had moved to Florida. He apparently was divorced from Allie in the 1890s, as Alice was living in the Piney Grove area (near current Samson) as a divorced head-of-household on the 1900, 1920, and 1930 census. On May 6, 1893, Miles bought land (Range 20E, Township 2N, Section 28) on the western edge of current Samson, Alabama (Geneva County). He married his second wife, Mariah Mitchell (9/9/1865-aft 1930) in Elba, Alabama on February 1, 1901, but had no other children. On June 1, 1901, while living in Elton, Alabama, he applied for and received a Confederate pension. On June 19, 1921, Miles Alford died at his home just west of Samson at Pera, Alabama. In 1930, his widow, Mariah, was living with her stepdaughter, Lela Alford Sellars and her family. He is buried at Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery 6 miles north of Samson on State Road 87.His children were as follows:
