In the June 1989 issue of AAFA ACTION, we published "Jesse James Meets Conductor Alford." The article was an excerpt from "The Great Gads Hill Train Robberty" by Ron Beights of St. Louis, printed in the 29 January 1989 issue of the Poplar Bluff, MO, Daily American Republic. Mr. Beights could not identify the first name of the conductor at that time. However, in a letter dated 6 October 1989, he let us know that he had received further info revealing that the conductor's was one C.A. Alford! We published that info in the March 1990 issue.A discrepancy is that the robbery took place in January 1874. If your Charles was born in 1857, he would have been about 17 years old. At the time of the robbery, Conductor Alford had been a railroad conductor for nine years!
