Dear Margaret, Some of the information in OLD FIRST DISTRICT OF MERIWETHER COUNTY, GA is incorrect and one of those things is the marriages of Lodwick Alford. In the first place, we cannot prove that Lodwick was the father of the first Isham Alford. There is also absolutely no evidence (except some GA DAR applications) that indicates a marriage to Rebecca Ferrell.A Rebecca Ferrell married an Alford but the three wives of the Lodwick Alford born c1710 New Kent Co. VA were Elizabeth (CADE?), Susannah (CADE?), and Sarah ?, as shown in church and court records. No wife is named in his will and Rebecca Ferrell Alford was still alive at that time, as evidenced by her father's will (if the Rebecca Ferrell in question was the daughter of John and Ann Ferrell of Franklin Co. NC). We would be happy to share the information we have and would be glad of any descendants you might have that are not in our database. Isham Alford was my 4th great-grandfather.His daughter Ann married my 3rd great-grandfather, Elijah Davidson, 1812 in Jasper Co. GA.Elijah was the administrator of his estate. The Davidsons lived just over the Troup Co. line from Meriwether where the younger Isham lived.
